About us

Blending athletics, education, and mentoring, Track Academy is a launchpad for young people to break down barriers, unlock their potential and thrive.

We empower young people facing challenges to improve their confidence, resilience, education and build supportive networks – equipping them with the tools to shape their own futures.

Track Academy was launched in 2007 by former athlete Connie Henry MBE, who grew up in Brent and honed her craft at the Willesden Sports Centre. Connie travelled the world as a competitive athlete, winning a bronze medal in the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

Acutely aware that sport gave her opportunities she may not have otherwise enjoyed, she created Track Academy so the young people of Brent could fulfil their own potential.

For over 17 years, Track Academy has been a cornerstone of the Brent community, founded on the powerful belief that athletics is a vehicle for profound social change. We provide a safe, supportive family for
young people from some of London’s most under-resourced areas.

We understand the systemic challenges our young people face: educational inequality, a lack of safe spaces, and a mental health crisis. In response, our unique, holistic model blends on-track athletic training with off-track academic support and life-skills mentoring.

We are more than a sports club. We are a lifeline, a confidence-builder and a community. We don’t just train athletes; we develop positive youth, role models and leaders.
