WE USE SPORT FOR SOCIAL CHANGE REGISTERED CHARITY 1164222
Track Academy, founded by Connie Henry, are a registered charity using sport for social change among young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. We use athletics to engage young people at risk; providing inspiration, role models and a structured pathway for them to gain better academic qualifications and positive achievements on and off the track.
Track Academy's Key Elements
Led by renowned international coaches and former world class athletes, sessions are aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles and providing insights into basic athletics training all the way to international vests. We work to help student-athletes understand that it is good education which underpins a successful athletics career.
Tailored to the needs of the individual student-athlete, our innovative academic system improves performance. And with academic performance a prerequisite for them to participate in the track and field activities they so love, we are able to provide motivational opportunities for student athletes to gain better qualifications and improved job prospects.
Weekly mentoring and most importantly micro-mentoring sessions with inspirational athletes and respected members of our community, help student-athletes develop leadership skills and positive outlooks on their challenges in life. These confidential sessions provide a forum to share experiences, concerns and aspirations.
COMMUNITY BENEFITS WE PROVIDE TO YOUNG PEOPLE IN LONDON
At Track Academy, we help young minds believe they are more than the circumstances into which they are born. Our core aim is to create positive leaders of tomorrow, academic achievers and if we happen to create an Olympian along the way, that would be a positive by-product of our efforts.
Student-athletes learn about sports from professional athletes who provide them with real life experience in addition to their professional expertise.
Track Academy have had success at all levels of athletics and have seen student-athletes progress nationally and internationally.
With our mentoring programme and community development focus, we help our student-athletes develop and enhance better life skills.
We work to help our student-athletes aspire to achieve greater goals in life through individualised mentoring and personalised support.
Among our aims is to provide positive alternatives to young people to take them off the streets and help them avoid gangs and unhealthy social practices.
Education is at the heart of everything we do, providing systematic support to help our students get through their studies.
At Track academy we help young minds believe they are more than the circumstances into which they are born.
We work to help our student-athletes gain job skills and improve their employment opportunities.
