Student athletes from Track Academy by Connie Henry represented the charity at the England Athletics Indoor Championships at the weekend, with three securing personal bests.
The group travelled to the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield for the Under 20, 17 and 15 meet, competing against athletes from around the country.
Sia Bona ran a Under 17 Women’s 60m heat in her best time of 8.21 seconds, while Reece Earl’s personal best of 23.05 seconds came in a Under 17 Men’s 200m heat. In his first national championships, Josh Kelly secured a personal best of 23.21 in the semi-finals of the Under 17 Men’s 200m.
The student athletes spent their downtime in between races completing their schoolwork in a specially-requested breakout area.
Track Academy founder Connie Henry said: “Competing in the national championships is always a great experience for our young athletes, and it’s fantastic that three of our students achieved personal bests.
“We’re also very proud of our athletes for committing to their schoolwork in between races, making the most of their time both on and off the track.”
