Young Roots, Care4Calais and Yaseen Cultural Centre have identified the needs of asylum seekers who are currently in interim accommodation in local hotels in Wembley. Asylum seekers often have vulnerable mental health due to the limbo they are in, exacerbated by the lack of access to physical exercise. By offering a variety of sport activities per week such yoga and football, the project aims to provide a safe space for asylum seekers to take part in physical activities. The project will accommodate more than 70 people per week. The sessions provide a unique opportunity for asylum seekers to enhance their well-being, improve physical and mental health, tackle social isolation, and improve English language skills for a feeling of belonging.
