Young Roots are specialists in supporting young asylum seekers and refugees aged 11-25 to reach their potential. Social isolation, holiday hunger and inactivity have a big impact on these unaccompanied minors as they struggle with the long summer holiday period without a safety net and structure of school or college.

During the six-week summer holiday, Young Roots offered a mixture of sports and cooking workshops. This allowed the young people to get active, reduce social isolation, and tackle hunger by giving them the resources and knowledge they needed to cook and eat nutritious meals on their own.
